Its slowly turning to autumn here in NZ, and I always know when it has because my toad lily only flowers then
I look forward to it every year as they have the most interesting flowers, very structural in shape but covered in fabulous crimson spots.
Yes more playing with my 100mm macro lens, and the benefit is clear when you compare the above image with the one below taken many years ago on my S3IS in macro mode
MUCH more detail – the colours are different because I have done a little tweaking in the top image to make the colours a bit richer.
I love to see this flower because it is so beautiful but it makes me sad because it means that summer is ending soon. Of course all of you in the northern hemisphere are now looking forward to spring, warmer weather and no more snow!

That’s an intriguing flower, thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for viewing and commenting, it is an unusual flower, and unless you stop and look you would miss the details
The detail is amazing! Looks like grains of sugar on the inside. Yep, looking forward to Spring here in Virginia, USA.
It does look like grains of sugar
Yes sad to say goodbye to summer but as we now officially had a drought – too much hot sun and no rain- it will be nice to have a change!
Cool looking flower.
Aren’t they. The other flower I really like the structure of is the passion flower
Very unique and lovely! Thanks for introducing it to me, as a viewer!
