I am *supposed* to be writing my thesis (or going to the gym or cleaning the house etc). But making a mess with more fake blood in my bathroom is so much more fun!
My original concept for this image didn’t work due to not enough space to perch comfortably. So I adapted to suit the conditions, as any good photographer should and made do with what I could do.
Changes made from the previous shoot:
– put the remote in a plastic bag to keep it clean
– wet my hair for better effect
– made a runnier consistency fake blood
– put some of the blood in a squirt bottle to better apply it
This pose had a lot more flexibility, I could press the remote button with my chin so I could use both hands/arms. I didn’t make enough blood and needed to decorate the set a bit more extensively but its hard to see behind you while keeping still to try not to smear what was already there.
It seems like a lot of blood when I was putting it on but not nearly enough when I look at the images now. I liked the pose on this image a lot, and the way my hair is fanned out over my arm and shoulder.
I make images like this to evoke a response. How do you feel when you see it? Why?
Honestly, I see both Gross and Art in this photo. Nice work!
so long as you are seeing art, I don’t care about the rest 🙂
Thanks!
Dark, very dark! So how’s that thesis going? 😉
Sorry this got caught in my spam filter and I just found it! It is going slowly, I have a meeting with my supervison on Friday and a 4 day weekend to sit down and hammer it out. I have the brief, the annotated bibliography and the raw survey data, and started to do the analysis on that. Just a matter of filling in the gaps and beating it into shape 🙂
OH, Wow!! love the walls, the blood is fantastic! A very gorey? image (hope you can work out the word I apparently can’t spell it). The wet hair works so much better than the dry, only suggestion – maybe a pool of blood somewhere. With all that blood there has to be a major wound/cut and pooling of blood after you’ve become still. Each post is a huge step up from the last, congrats.
I need to be much more enthusiastic about spreading the blood around. I put it in a squirt bottle this time and that worked really well but I think I need to decorate the set BEFORE I get into it so I can judge the effect first. I like the pool of blood idea, thanks!
I love it. I love dark and gritty and horror. The wet hair was a great idea. The only thing I would add is that you could be slumped a little more. Does that make sense?
Yes and no. The end of my bath has a flat shelf so I’m on that. If I slid down further I couldn’t reach the walls easily and that was the story I was trying to tell here. And there isn’t as much space in your bath to pose creatively like this as what you might hope for 😉
LOL I understand.
Great work… I can envisage this shot as a book cover… to a murder ..with the contents of the book being about a crazed psycho killer… and the writing in wall is a brilliant idea..
Hey thanks, Im not sure where this trip down the rabbit hole is taking me but it is fun experimenting for sure 🙂
I bet it is and I like this form of art. It is something that is very thought provoking … mind you I bet you are forever cleaning your bathroom 😀 😀
Actually with a cloth and a fair amount of hot water, it cleans up fairly easily. But yes, that is one of the reasons why I limit these messy ones to the bathroom:)
